Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi receives Cuba Minister of Construction

On March 27, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi had a meeting with Cuban Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafana and the delegation.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi assessed the working visit of the Cuban Ministry of Construction's delegation to Vietnam as an opportunity for the two sides to discuss in finalizing the signed agreements and commitments in the Minutes of the 40th session of the Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernmental Committee, contributing to promoting the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

Two ministries have agreed on the content of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of construction, towards signing it within the framework of the official visit to Cuba by the Presidium of Vietnam National Assembly in coming time. Minister Nghi also emphasized that, the Memorandum of Understanding is a framework for cooperation between the two ministries in the period 2023-2028, aiming to enhance the exchange of experience in state management in the construction field between the two ministries and promote trade cooperation activities between construction enterprises of the two countries.

Although facing many difficulties, the two sides still made efforts in implementing cooperation agreements between enterprises of the two countries, actively implementing cooperation agreements signed cooperation between Vietnam - Cuba. Minister Nghi also hoped that the Cuban Ministry of Construction would pay attention to direct relevant units in prioritizing solving existing difficulties, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises in production and expanding their investment activities in Cuba.

Minister Rene Mesa Villafana thanked Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi and  leaders of units under the Ministry of Construction for warm welcome and conveying the regards of General Raúl Modesto Castro Ruz to Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi. He also said that, the General Raúl Modesto Castro Ruz hopes to receive the Vietnamese Minister of Construction to visit and work in Cuba.

Minister Rene Mesa Villafana highly appreciated the production and business efficiency of Vietnamese enterprises in Cuba, especially the Joint Venture between VIGLACERA Corporation and Cuban partners. According to Minister Rene Mesa Villafana, Cuba is currently interested in investing in building new cement plants. During this visit to Vietnam, the delegation will have a working program with VICEM Corporation and LILAMA Corporation on cooperation in implementing a project to renovate a cement factory in Cuba. In addition, the Cuban side is also very interested in the production of other building materials such as gypsum and wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam to produce thos.

At the end of the meeting, the two ministers agreed to further strengthen the cooperation relationship between the two sides in the coming time. Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi suggested that the two ministries promote cooperation in the direction of focus, practical, and efficiency; exchanging information and  sharing experience on state management of the construction industry, especially in the field of housing and urban development, construction investment management, and development of building materials.
