The 41st of the Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernmental Committee session wraps up

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang; Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz - Chairman of the Cuba-Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee and Minister of Construction of Vietnam Nguyen Thanh Nghi - Chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee and official members of the two countries' delegations.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Cuban Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz emphasized, the 41st meeting of the Cuba-Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee was honored to have the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, within the framework of his official visit to Cuba; thereby affirming the importance and attention of the Vietnamese Government to the economic, trade, financial, cooperation and scientific and technical relations between the two countries. Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz thanked Vietnam for its support in providing rice and helping develop food and seafood production in Cuba; affirming the cooperation with Vietnam is strategic relation in the current context.

Implementing the content of this 41st Session, the two sides have had many technical exchange sessions between experts from the two countries, and reviewed the situation of bilateral economic cooperation, and planned short and medium-term work of common concerns.  The Cuban side continued to systematically follow the new contents of the Minutes of this Session, in order to consolidate the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee mechanism to enhance trade exchanges on the basis of mutual benefit and effectively contribute to Vietnamese businesses investing in priority areas such as agriculture, tourism, renewable energy... with impact directly to Cuba's socio-economic development plan, and achieve greater efficiency in implementing bilateral cooperation.

The two Parties agreed to continue to focus on and promote the development of Vietnam's investment projects in Cuba, especially projects that have been established in the Mariel Special Zone.

Overview of the Meeting.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi highly appreciated the results achieved of the two working groups, and also agreed with the contents of the Minutes of the 40th Meeting; focused the positive results, remaining issues and proposed solutions to overcome shortcomings in implementing the agreement; thereby identified feasible cooperation contents in the period 2024-2025 based on the potential and needs of each side.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized: the Minutes of the 41st Session will be the basis for the two Parties to implement and expand bilateral cooperation in the fields of economics and science and technology, at the same time continue to maintain and develop the traditional relationship and special friendship between the two countries Vietnam - Cuba, built by President Ho Chi Minh and Leader Fidel Castro. In order for the agreements to be implemented effectively, the two Parties must work together and try to overcome difficulties with appropriate implementation solutions, in the spirit of brotherly comradeship and special traditional solidarity and friendship.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi also expressed his belief on new achievements in economic, trade and investment cooperation which contribute to bringing economic cooperation to a level worthy of the good political relationship between Vietnam and Cuba; looked forward to welcome the Cuban delegation led by Comrade Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz to Vietnam next year 2025 to co-chair the 42nd Meeting of the Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernmental Committee.

With the witness of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz and Minister of Construction of Vietnam Nguyen Thanh Nghi and official members of the two countries, the signing ceremony of the Minutes of the 41st session of the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee was held.

Cuban Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafana awarded Certificate of Merit to the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Construction of Vietnam).

Also at the closing ceremony, the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Construction of Vietnam) was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from Cuban Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafana for positive contributions to the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Cuba in the construction field.
