With the four operational turbines, the plant can now generate a total of 40 million kWh a day.
It is expected that the fifth turbine will merge into the national grid by the end of April 2012 and the last turbine will begin generating electricity in August 2012.
So far, the hydropower plant has generated around 5 billion kWh.
Sơn La Hydropwer plant has a designed capacity of 2,400 MW, consisting of six turbines. Once coming into full operation, the plant will add 10.2 billion kWh per year to the national gird./.
